Creating a map to write a story

When I have an idea and before writing the story, I find very useful to draw the map of the lands and the locations where the story takes place.
Whether it's a Fantastic Land, a City, a Country, an Island or anything else, drawing a map really helps visualising the hero's journey. You can add locations, challenges, characters and anything you can imagine. I usually use Legos to draw the outlines but you can use anything really: pasta, rice, gravel, toys. Just scatter them randomly on your page, start drawing and dive into your fantastic world.
